Spirit of the Heart Limoges Porcelain Boxes

In the late 1700's Limoges porcelain boxes were revered by the royal families, aristocrats, and wealthy merchants. The fine porcelain that comes from Limoges is evident of its high quality Kaolin clay. Kim receives the imported boxes as plain white blank boxes.  She then designs and paints them.  It is from here the "Spirit of the Heart Box" is created. Kim has spent the last 12 years designing these boxes.  Before each box is painted a detailed blueprint is drawn simulating color, gold work, and inscriptions. After the blueprint is approved by the client, Kim proceeds to paint the box. Between each coat of paint the box must be fired in a kiln. Kim fires her boxes sometimes up to 8 times or more to maximize lush colors and fine detail.

The Limoges boxes come in many different sizes and shapes. The most popular box is the round, square or oval monogram box. Kim uses an interlace script in 24KT gold for an elegant refined look. The boxes are embellished with 24KT gold gilding and raised enamels. She also uses an 1800-century technique of agate burnishing.

"Kim McCool creates Limoges paintings steeped in miniature magnificence preserving complex, historical brush methodology.  Conversely, she introduces personal contemporary styles and techniques that bring forth poetic master works on porcelain."  - Raphael Iaccarino, Art Collector and Connoisseur

The Distinctive Difference

Kim has created original box designs for many years. A porcelain box is the perfect gift for people who have everything. Any occasion can be commemorated -  Weddings, Engagements, Baby births, Christenings, birthdays, special retirements, Debutantes, Sweet sixteens, Bar Mitzvahs, Bat Mitzvahs. You can also have a pet portrait, house portrait, yacht portrait, church portrait, and even a cabin by a lake.  Kim personally packages each box in a gift box, with tote bag and tissue. If you are a connoisseur of fine tastes you will certainly appreciate the fine detail, magnificent design and workmanship of a "Spirit of the Heart Box."

How to Order

If you would like to order a box hand painted by Kim, please email Kim and include your phone number, fax number and email address. Please allow a 2 month period for painting and a little longer during holiday times.

All boxes must be paid for in advance via check or money order. Since the boxes are custom painted just for you, there are no refunds.

After talking about the details for the box, you will receive by fax a blueprint which will have a detailed illustration of the finished box. After you approve of the design, the box will then go into production. Each box is fired many times. The exact number of times depends on the amount of detail. This enhances the colors and adds to fine details.

Upon completion of the box, it is packaged for you. You will receive a tote bag and tissue with your gift boxed box.  All orders are sent United States Postal Service Priority mail receipt confirmation. Please figure $15.00. For Express Mail Overnight $25.00. Multiple box mailing will be discussed at time of order.
